  01/09/2020 ALL THE BEST FOR JEE MAIN ASPIRANTS  Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal wished students appearing for the most important JEE Main for admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) that begins today.  He said the two crucial exams - the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) and the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for admission to medical courses - are being held to ensure that students don't lost an academic year amid the coronavirus pandemic. "JEE and NEET had to be postponed several times due to the coronavirus pandemic. JEE and NEET exams are being held to ensure that students don't lost a year. I am happy that nearly all students have downloaded their admit cards and there is enthusiasm among students," Mr Pokhriyal said in a video he tweeted last night. POSTPONING OF JEE NEET 2020 UPDATES   On  August 17, the Supreme Court rejected the petition a group of 11 students filed where they demanded postponing the 2020 JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) Main and NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) exams--conducted every year across the country by the National Testing Agency (NTA)--are scheduled in September; JEE Main from September 1 to 6 and NEET on September 13. Justice Arun Mishra of SC, who headed a three-judge bench hearing the petition, said: “Life cannot be stopped. We have to move ahead with all safeguards.... Can we just stop exams? We should move on.” The Supreme Court decision has opened a Pandora’s box. Thousands of students have gone on hunger strike demanding the postponement of the examinations and political parties have taken up the issue, citing the safety of children amid a pandemic and spike in Covid cases. 27/08/2020 JEE NEET postponements due to COVID-19  Amid several protests on JEE NEET postponement due to COVID-19 outbreak, the education minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ on Wednesday said in a video that a large number of candidates and parents wanted to take the entrance examinations.  He also said that following the order of the Supreme Court decision on conducting NEET, JEE exams along with the request of students as well as parents, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has decided to conduct the engineering and medical entrance examinations. #JEE  #NEET
